It's THAT important...

Hey fantasy managers!

Happy Saturday - we officially are in football season with preseason games going on right now.

Your tip for today is a bit longer but trust me - it’s worth your time.

I read 1-2 hours of NFL news a day and have summarized the 20 most important takeaway from this past week for you below.

This will help you understand what’s actually happening right now in practices:

1. Christian McCaffrey is dealing with a calf strain.

This injury should heal in 1-2 weeks if it’s not major. According to Edwin Porras – this injury has just an 8% re-injury rate once healed. Continue to draft McCaffrey #1 overall...

2. The Cowboys haven’t decided their RB1.

The backfield is currently split between Ezekiel Elliott – Rico Dowdle & Royce Freeman. But the Athletic has reported that Dowdle has been the face of the backfield so far. He’s a strong option in Round 12 of drafts…

3. Puka Nacua suffered a knee injury earlier this week.

But it’s not a structural injury as he landed on a bursa sac. He could return to practice as soon as next week & his Week 1 status doesn’t appear to be effected…

4. Andy Reid shared that Pacheco is ready for a workhorse role.

Reid added Pacheco can now run all the routes asked of him. Pacheco is a strong pick in Round 2 or 3 of your drafts…

5. Zack Moss is listed ahead of Chase Brown as the Bengals RB1.

But don’t read too much into this as it’s an unofficial depth chart. What matters more is that Brown is pass protecting well & earning more RB1 snaps each day in camp. Brown has league winning upside in Round 10...

6. Dontayvion Wicks played just 6 snaps in Packers Family Night Game.

He was on the field for just 20% of the starting offense plays. This is just a scrimmage – but it’s historically been an indicator of who the Packers view as their starters entering the season…

7. Devin Singletary appears to be clear RB1 in Giants camp.

This makes sense given the $9.5 million guaranteed they paid him this offseason. But it’s good to see no one is threatening him for RB1 touches. Singletary currently goes in Round 8...

8. Packers Coach Matt Lafleur is hyping up Josh Jacobs passing game role.

This comes on the same day that ookie MarShawn Lloyd was fumbling in camp. Lloyd's fumbling was an issue in college - this won't help his chances of earning 1st team reps...

9. Malik Nabers is destroying the Lions secondary in joint practices.

The training camp hype has been extremely high for Nabers. Despite this - he still goes in the 4th or 5th rounds of drafts. Nabers might be the best pick in all of fantasy right now…

10. DeAndre Hopkins doesn’t need surgery but will be out several weeks.

This likely means he suffered a Grade 2 Knee Strain - which can take up to 6-8 weeks to heal. Hopkins is currently an avoid in drafts...

11. Jonathon Brooks may miss a few weeks.

The Panthers rookie RB won’t play in the preseason – Coach Dave Canales stated their goal is to have him back by Week 3 or 4. Here's your takeaway:

This news will drop Brooks in drafts - making him an even better value because not much has changed with his overall outlook. Brooks profiles as a workhorse back - and Canales fed his workhorse 330 touches last season...

12. Anthony Richardson is showing growth mentally.

This news is important because Richardson entered the NFL with few college starts under his belt. He was inexperienced but is now learning the mental side of the game.

This matters because we know he has the physical tools – but if he takes a step forward mentally he can have a massive season. Richardson currently goes in Round 5 of drafts...

13. Jameson Williams positive news continues.

Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson stated “His route tree has grown – and there’s nothing he can’t do” Williams is a breakout candidate entering his 3rd season…

14. Theo Johnson is trending to be the Giants TE1.

The rookie came off the PUP list last week & immediately started to earn TE1 snaps. Johnson is one of the most athletic TEs to ever enter the NFL based on combine testing…

15. Rashid Shaheed is having a strong camp.

He appears to be the Saints clear WR2. The Saints new play-caller Klint Kubiak may use Shaheed over the middle of the field more. This would lead to more catches & yards after the catch for Shaheed...

16. Colts WR Josh Downs will miss 4-6 weeks with high ankle sprain.

There’s a chance he’s ready Week 1 but it’s more likely he misses a game or 2. 5th round rookie Anthony Gould could see more usage with Downs out. Gould has elite 4.39 speed...

17. Ray Davis looks to be in the lead for the Bills RB2 job.

The 4th round rookie gives the Bills size in the redzone at 211 pounds compared to James Cook 199-pound frame. If Davis wins this job - he could have a significant role right away…

18. Jalen Tolbert looks to be the Cowboys WR3 right now.

He’s having a strong camp entering Year 3. The Dallas WR3 role can be valuable as they threw the most times per game last season...

19. D’Onta Foreman returned to Browns practice

This comes after he suffered scary neck injury last week that had him carted off the field. Foreman will be in-line for significant touches - next to Jerome Ford - if he’s able to play Week 1…

20. Eagles Rookie WR Johnny Wilson continues to see 1st team reps.

Wilson is a monster at 6’6 & 231 pounds. And he has great speed for his size. He’s a sneaky option in deeper leagues…
