🚨 NFL Shakeup: What It Means for Fantasy Football
Massive Trades, Signings & Fantasy Fallout
A crazy NFL weekend just shook up fantasy football. Big trades, big signings, and major depth chart shifts mean you need to start adjusting your draft boards already.
Today, we’re breaking down all the biggest moves and what they mean for fantasy football in 2025.
Let’s get into it 👇
1. Davante Adams is a Ram
Adams joins the high-powered Rams offense as the WR2 behind Puka Nacua. Even at 32 - Adams still has juice:
Ranked Top 10 vs. man coverage
Averaged 10+ targets per game last season
Fantasy Impact: Puka Nacua remains a late-first-round fantasy pick - while Adams will provide value in the third round as a volume-heavy WR2…
2. DK Metcalf Heads to Pittsburgh
The Steelers get a physical deep threat - but Metcalf will now compete with George Pickens for WR1 duties.
Metcalf led the NFL in deep targets in 2024 (despite missing 2 games).
Pickens was 4th in the same category
But there’s a problem - the Steelers don’t have a QB yet.
Fantasy Impact: Metcalf’s value depends on who Pittsburgh brings in at QB. If it’s a downgrade from Geno Smith (likely), both Metcalf and Pickens could struggle.
3. Jaxon Smith-Njigba Takes Over in Seattle
Metcalf is gone. Tyler Lockett was released. That leaves Jaxon Smith-Njigba as Seattle’s new WR1.
JSN’s stock is rising fast—but like Metcalf, he needs a QB.
Fantasy Impact: Expect Seattle to make a move at QB. If they land a solid passer (Sam Darnold?), JSN could be a massive breakout candidate in 2025.
4. Geno Smith Traded to the Raiders
The Raiders have their QB. Geno Smith, coming off a Top 5 season in big-time throws, reunites with Pete Carroll in Vegas.
This is great news for the Raiders’ weapons:
Brock Bowers is now an even stronger 2nd-round fantasy pick
Jakobi Meyers becomes a mid-round steal
And the Raiders still have the 6th overall pick to add more talent…
5. Christian Kirk Joins the Texans
Houston gets a much-needed WR2 after:
Tank Dell is likely out for 2025
Stefon Diggs hit free agency
Kirk can play both outside and in the slot, and in this offense, he could see Stefon Diggs-level usage from last season. Diggs was a Top 20 WR before injury…
6. Brian Thomas Set to Dominate in 2025
With Christian Kirk traded & Evan Engram released, Thomas is about to see a massive target share.
The Jaguars' new coach, Liam Coen, said the offense will run through Thomas.
As a rookie, Thomas ranked Top 5 in yards & TDs. And now his only target competition is Brenton Strange, Gabe Davis & Parker Washington.
Fantasy Impact: Thomas has WR1 upside and could lead the NFL in targets this season…
7. Aaron Jones Re-Signs with the Vikings
At 30 years old, Jones proved he still has juice:
Played all 17 games for just the 2nd time in his career
Quietly racked up 1,500+ total yards
Fantasy Impact: Jones stays a safe RB2 in fantasy with three-down upside…
8. Hollywood Brown Stays in Kansas City
Brown battled injuries in 2024, but with Rashee Rice’s status uncertain and Travis Kelce aging, he has sneaky upside in 2025.
If he stays healthy, Brown could be Mahomes’ WR1 early in the season.
Fantasy Impact: Late-round fantasy sleeper with potential for spike weeks.
9. Zach Ertz Re-Signs with Washington
At 34 years old, Ertz still has fantasy value:
654 yards & 7 TDs in 2024
3rd-most slot snaps among all TEs
Key red-zone target for Washington
Fantasy Impact: A solid late-round TE target in 2025.
10. Ravens Keep Ronnie Stanley
Stanley ranked 11th in pass-blocking last season among tackles & played all 17 games.
This is big for Lamar Jackson & the Ravens’ offense.
Fantasy Impact: Expect a boost for Baltimore’s pass game, making guys like Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews even more valuable…
What’s Next?
These moves just reshaped fantasy football—but there’s still more to come. Free agency & the NFL Draft will shake things up even more.
