Week 8 Fantasy Football News To Know
Read this Before Week 8 begins...
Hey there!
As always - I spent 3+ hours reading injury reports this week - so you don’t have to.
Here are the most important takeaways for your fantasy leagues in Week 8:
#20 Tyreek Hill is questionable
He didn’t practice on Friday with a foot injury- but reports seem optimistic Tyreek will play. Reminder, Tyreek averages 22.4 points per game with Tua as his QB…
#19 Jonathan Taylor will play
He was able to practice in full on Thursday & Friday. Taylor will play the Texans #12 run defense - he's a must start...
#18 DK Metcalf is doubtful
Metcalf is week-to-week - and the Seahawks have their bye in Week 10. There’s a good chance we don’t see him until Week 11.
Expect Jake Bobo to fill in for Metcalf this week…
#17 DeAndre Hopkins will ‘probably’ play
Andy Reid sounded optimistic that Hopkins will suit up. However - it’s likely to be a very limited role for him.
Hopkins projects for 7 points this week…
#16 George Kittle is questionable
He was able to practice in limited fashion on Thursday & Friday. Kittle is trending to play – he’ll likely be the 49ers top passing game option because…
#15 Jauan Jennings is OUT
And the 49ers are already with out Brandon Aiyuk & Deebo Samuel is highly questionable.
It’s setting up for the 49ers to start Ricky Pearsall, Chris Conley & Ronnie Bell at WR. Expect SF to lean heavily on their run game & Jordan Mason…
#14 Tee Higgins is questionable
He popped up on the Friday injury report with a quad injury.
Mid-week injuries are never good – we need to track this leading up to Sundays 1 pm kickoff. But as of now – this doesn’t appear to be a serious injury…
#13 Diontae Johnson is OUT
The Panthers are also with Adam Thielen still. It’s tough to start any Panthers this week with Bryce Young starting against the Broncos #2 ranked defense.
Chuba Hubbard is the only FLEX worthy option for Carolina…
#12 Jayden Daniel is a game-time decision
He was able to practice on Friday & coach Dan Quinn said ‘he really pushed it today’. There’s a chance this is just a move to confuse their opponent.
Daniels was originally ruled week to week on Monday – he seems unlikely to play…
#11 Chris Olave is set to return
He’s been able to practice this week and cleared the concussion protocol. Olave will likely be playing with rookie QB Spencer Rattler.
You can FLEX Olave this week – but temper expectations against the Chargers Top 10 secondary…
#10 Calvin Ridley will play
He didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday – but he's reportedly feeling good. The Titans are 11-point underdogs against the Lions.
There’s a good chance Ridley earns plenty of targets in this game script without DeAndre Hopkins…
#9 Travis Etienne is a game-time decision
He was able to practice in limited fashion all week. Doug Pederson stated Etienne is the Jaguars RB1 once back.
If active - Etienne will likely split the backfield with Tank Bigsby against the Packers #25 run defense…
#8 Zay Flowers is questionable
He sprained his ankle last week – which led to a season low 1-target performance.
Flowers is trending to be a game-time decision. Add Rashod Bateman if you are a Flowers manager…
#7 Bucky Irving is trending to play
He didn’t practice on Wednesday & Thursday but was able to practice on Friday.
Bucky earned 77 yards on 12 touches in Week 7. But it’s difficult to start him with Tampa currently using 3 RBs on offense…
#6 Jakobi Meyers is questionable
He’s been in & out of practice this week – but coach Antonio Pierce expects him to play.
In 6 career games with Gardner Minshew – Meyers averages 12 points on 7.7 targets per game…
#5 Ladd McConkey is questionable
He was able to practice in limited fashion on Friday. McConkey leads this team with a 25% target share as a rookie.
If he’s active – start him – he’d be a Top 20 WR this week in my fantasy blueprint…
#4 Josh Downs will play
But he’s averaging just 9 points with Anthony Richardson. As opposed to 17.7 points per game in 2 starts with Joe Flacco.
It’s difficult to start Downs this week with Richardson at QB...
#3 Dallas Goedert is OUT
It will be another week of Grant Calcaterra starting at TE. He’s earned 14% of the team’s targets the past 2 weeks.
Calcaterra is projected for 5 points in my blueprint – you can find better options…
#2 Derek Carr is doubtful
Spencer Rattler is trending to start. He ranks 33rd in QB efficiency this season – and now he'll face the Chargers Top 10 secondary.
Temper expectations for Chris Olave in his return from a concussion...
#1 Keaton Mitchell is OUT
The Ravens 2nd year RB is close to returning. He’s worth a stash in deeper leagues in case Derrick Henry or Justice Hill were to get banged up this weekend.
Mitchell led the NFL in yards per touch last season…
