Your Week 5 Waiver Wire Guide
Use this before you add anyone...
Hey!
Week 5 is over and a lot just happened.
Let’s break down the Top 5 adds on the waiver wire - plus some deeper league stashes:
#5 Tyrone Tracy
The Giants rookie RB broke out in a major way in Week 5. Devin Singletary was out which opened more work for Tracy. Here's what this led too...
Tracy played 62% of the snaps & handled 82% of the backfield carries. He turned this strong usage into 130 yards on 19 touches. Here's what you need to know...
RB Eric Gray actually saw usage before Tracy in this game. But Gray fumbled - which led to a larger role for Tracy. And he didn't look back.
Devin Singletary's Week 6 status is unclear right now. If he was to miss - Tracy would start against the Bengals who allow the 8th most rushing yards per game.
But either way - Tracy has likely earned a larger role…
#4 Xavier Legette
He was a popular waiver add last week - but is still available in 70% of leagues. Legette left Week 5 with an injury but it was said to not be serious.
After the game - coach Canales basically said if the game wasn’t a blowout then Legette would’ve come back in.
Legette has a strong role in an offense that has looked better under Andy Dalton. The 220 pound WR with elite speed is worth rostering in all 12+ team league formats…
#3 Jalen Tolbert
Brandin Cooks was placed on IR and will miss at least 4 games. In the Cowboys first game without Cooks - Tolbert earned a team-high 26% target share.
Tolbert turned a team-high 10 targets into 7 catches for 87 yards and 1 TD. He’s been trending up every season of his career and finally appears to be breaking out.
Tolbert should have soft matchups each week as defenses focus their attention on CeeDee Lamb…
#2 Tank Bigsby
He took another step forward in this Jaguars backfield on Sunday. Bigsby led the RBs in snaps & touches. Here's what this led too...
Tank finished Sunday as the #1 overall RB in fantasy. He turned 14 touches into 129 yards and 2 TDs. This was great - especially compared to Travis Etienne who had just 17 rushing yards on 6 carries.
Bigsby entered Week 5 ranking #1 in explosive run rate. In Week 5 alone - he added 3 more explosive plays of 10+ yards.
Bigsby has now outproduced Etienne in all 3 of his healthy games this year.
#1 Ty Chandler
We've been saying it all year - Aaron Jones is a great RB... when healthy. But the past 2 weeks - Jones has dealt with injuries.
In Week 4 - he left & later returned with an undisclosed injury. But in Week 5 - Jones didn't return...
He left with a hip/potential hamstring issue on Sunday. Chandler saw over 80% of the snaps once Jones left.
And Chandler earned 14 carries compared to 2 for Myles Gaskin. Here's what you should know about Chandler...
Last season over a larger sample - he averaged 5 yards per touch. And in his 1 start in Week 15 of 2023 - Chandler produced 157 total yards & 1 TD on 26 touches.
The Vikings coaches trust Chandler - but that's not all because has Chandler has great speed & is explosive. He’s a playmaker.
And Aaron Jones is nearly 30 years old and coming off a injury riddled season. Chandler needs to be rostered in all leagues - especially if Jones misses time…
